Are you getting ready for 2023?

I have just recently started creating a business plan for next year, and I’ll admit- it’s tough! There is not that much information out there on the web about creating a business plan- let alone one for blogging.

So, if you’re looking ahead to next year and need some help deciding what to do, here’s what I am working on planning for next year!

1. WRITE DOWN ALL GOALS AND IDEAS

The first thing I did when creating my blogging plan was started by writing down all of the things I want to improve, my goals, and any other ideas I have. This is a good starting point because everything in your head is on the paper.

-BREAK DOWN YOUR GOALS

Start with any big goals that you have, and break them down into smaller steps that you want to achieve over the year.

This can be;

  • Income goals
  • Follower goals
  • Blog post view goals

It’s better to start with the biggest goal first so you know where you want to go and work your way down from there. So what do you want to achieve by the end of 2023?

-WHAT DO YOU WANT TO IMPROVE?

I have a huge list of things I want to improve in the next year. And my biggest problem, and I think a lot of creatives suffer from this, is working on too many things at once.

We, as bloggers, tend to spread ourselves too thin, We want everything to be improved at once. Readers, followers, SEO, income… it’s all too much.

So, once you know everything you want to improve in the next year, you can decide how to tackle each thing one by one. And create a plan for how to do it!

2. SET A BLOGGING SCHEDULE

This is something that I want to get better at. I work from home full-time now, ever since the lockdowns started in March and I lost my job. So adjusting to the work-from-home life hasn’t been easy.

If you want your blog to one day turns into a business, you need to treat it as such. Even if it is just a side-hustle for you!

  • Have dedicated times to work
  • Try not to work in PJ’s (I know, it’s tempting!)
  • Have a dedicated office space (if possible)

For me, I am lucky enough to have an office space for myself. But.. Let’s be honest. My office is mainly sitting on my couch (Currently where I’m working now!). So for 2023, I am going to set “office hours” for myself, as if this was an office job.

I tend to work all day and night, so I want to set times where I work and give myself off days as well. If you work a 9-5, your hours may be a bit strange. Maybe 8 pm-10 pm once the kids go to sleep, or 5 am-8 am before they wake up.

Whatever works best for you! The beauty of a work from home job is you get to set the hours!

Also, it’s best if you don’t work in PJ’s (Guilty, again!). Studies prove, that if you work in whatever it is you slept in, you’re more likely to be unproductive.

3. CREATE AN INCOME PLAN

This is the fun part! But it can also be the scariest. I find it hard to set income goals because… what if I don’t reach them? What is a realistic income goal? What’s the point of setting a goal I’m not likely to hit?

Let me know if you can relate to those thoughts.

But the reality is, goals should scare you. They should be just too far out of reach. That’s what is supposed to push you to reach them.

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. If you started blogging this year and you want to make $100,000 next year, that may not be very tangible.

But, I also don’t want you to limit yourself- there are people who have actually done that! So, set your crazy income goals and then break it down from there.

Decide what avenues you want to make money with and then how you’re going to achieve that

  • How much money do you need to make with each income stream?
  • What income streams are you going for?
  • What do you need to learn to master that income stream?

These are all things to think about when creating your 2023 blog plan!
